The dropped handlebars fitted to most kids road bikes are narrower than an adult handlebar but the drop section is the same. This means the forward throw is too great and the bottom section out of reach. It also makes it very difficult to reach the brake levers. So the child ends up holding on to the closest top section of the handlebar only (they might as well have a straight handlebar). Our exclusive handlebars have a very short forward throw and a very shallow drop, making all three positions usable and the brake levers easier to reach.
